This Fall wedding at Cedarmont Farm in Nashville hits ALL the marks for the perfect intimate wedding. The muted earth tone color palette and effortless backdrop of bohemia would lead you to believe this was a crisp and cool Fall day here in the Music city but in reality it was actually close to 90 degrees that day! Despite the heat, I had a great time getting to know Sam and Kristof and I was honored to be apart of their big day.
These two flew in all the way from Belgium to tie the knot with their family and friends – a small group of 35 people, in a relaxed and comfortable setting beneath sunny skies and later on the most perfect sailcloth tent. In a word “casual” is the vision Sam had for her wedding. We wanted “all things informal and breezy” she said as neither of them had ever seen themselves getting married and didn’t have any long time dreams to rely on for inspiration. To them, their wedding goal was to have a laid back affair full of good food and togetherness – a reflection of their personalities and enjoying what they care about most.
Sam and Kristof have the cutest and most perfectly modern how-they-met story. Enter a nightclub in Brighton, England – it was her last night in the country and it was his only night in the country while in town for a bachelor party. They met briefly and later on he finds her through an online literary review she was working on. Together they continue an online relationship for a year when Sam pops the question and he accepts. With a leap of faith Sam moves to Brussels where they spend the next seven years together, welcome their first daughter Esmee, and plan their wedding. A truly modern and low-key romance right? It’s refreshing and 100% them.
Planning a wedding from across the world is no easy task though, even if it’s a small no-fuss event. Sam and Kristof took it all in stride though and did as much as they were able but also relied heavily on their planner Colleen with Cedarmont. Colleen did so much of the heavy lifting for their wedding and really showed up for everyone. She was able to take Sam’s inspiration of bohemian and floral focused and build the decor around those ideas. If you find yourself planing from afar make sure you have a planner who understands your goals and doesn’t mind taking the lead in your absence, they are worth their weight in gold!!
